K. S. Hegde Medical Academy was established in 1999, and became a constituent of Nitte University in 2009. The Institution is named after its founder, the visionary, Late Justice K S Hegde, former Justice of the Supreme Court of India and Speaker of the Lok Sabha. The Institution has made rapid progress towards being recognized as a medical school with high academic standards delivering quality health care with an emphasis on promoting social responsibility in its students. In keeping with the vision and mission of Nitte University, K.S Hegde Medical Academy strives to generate competent and humane professionals empowered to face future challenges with ethical integrity.

Nitte Oration 2010

At the first Nitte Oration Prof. Ramkumar Venkateswaran , the founder Chairman of the association was the orator. He spoke on “Management of Difficult Airway: Indian Scenario” and sensitised the delegates to the requirement of training and teaching of airway management.

Nitte Oration 2011

The 2nd Nitte oration was delivered by Dr. Rakesh Kumar on “Supraglottic devices as primary management strategy in anticipated difficult airway” at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi on 5th November, 2011.

Nitte Oration 2012

Dr. P.F. Kotur, member WFSA, Registrar, KLE University, Sr. Professor of Anaesthesiology delivered the 3rd Nitte Oration - “Evidence Based Airway Management" on 27th October 2012 during the 3rd National Difficult Airway Conference held at J.N. Medical College and KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC, Belgaum.

Nitte Oration 2013

Prof. Pankaj Kundra, JIPMER, Pondicherry, who has extensively studied the imaging technique in airway management delivered the 4th Nitte Oration at the 4th National Airway Conference at North Bengal Medical College, Siliguri on 9th November 2013

Nitte Oration 2014

The 5th Nitte orator was Dr. Ramesh S, Senior Consultant in Anaesthesiology, Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital, Chennai who spoke on “Paediatric Airway Management – From Knowledge to Wisdom” conference on 29th November 2014 at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.

Nitte Oration 2015

The 6th Nitte Oration was delivered by Dr. Dilip Pawar Professor AIIMS New Delhi on , “Crisis to Crisis , We Grow – From Knowledge to Wisdom” conference on 19th September, 2015 at Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir.

The 7th Nitte Oration was delivered by Dr. J V Divatia, Professor and HOD, Dept of Anaesthesiology Critical Care & Pain, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai on "Physiology of Difficult Airway " conference on 18th September 2016 at Vadodara

The 8th Nitte Oration was delivered by Dr. Raveendra U S Professor, Department of Anaesthesia , KSHEMA , Mangaluru, who spoke on “Airway- The Way Forward” conference on 9th September 2017 at AIIMS, New Delhi.

The 9th Nitte Oration was delivered by Dr Sheila Nainan Myatra, Professor , Dept of Anaesthesiology Critical Care & Pain, Tata Memorial Centre on "Difficult Airway Guidelines: AIDAA to PUMA" on 8th September 2018 at Kolkata.

The 10th Nitte Oration was delivered by Prof.Dr Balabhaskar S President, ISA National and Professor, VIMS, Bellari, Karnataka, on “Conscience, Caution and clinical practice” on 7th September 2019 at Mangaluru .

The 11th Nitte Oration was delivered by Prof. Rashid M. Khan Muscat, Oman, on “Airway Management : Evolving Views” on 10th October 2020 at JNMC, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.
